  1. Chemical Reactions power point By Tony R

  2. Synthesis • Zirconium and sulfur form zirconium sulfide Zr(s) + S(s) 

  3. Synthesis • Zirconium and sulfur form zirconium sulfide Zr(s) + 2S(s)  ZrS2(s) Synthesis reaction happens when two or more smaller reactants combine into one larger product. The combining of the constituent elements of separate material or abstract entities into a single or unified entity the separating of any material or abstract entity into its constituent elements.

  4. Decomposition • The act or result of decomposing; disintegration. KCl(s) →

  5. Decomposition • 2KCl(s) → 2K(s) + Cl2(g) • Other carbonates will decompose when heated producing the corresponding metal oxide and carbon dioxide. In the following equation M represents a metal

  6. Double replacement • a chemical reaction where two reactant ionic compounds exchange ions to form two new product compounds with the same ions. • AgNO3 + NaCl→

  7. Double Replacement • AgNO3(AQ)+ NaCl(AQ) → AgCl(S)+ NaNO3(AQ) • is a double replacement reaction. The silver traded its nitrite ion for the sodium's chloride ion.

  8. Double reaction • a type of reaction where part of of one reactant is replaced by part of another reactant. • AB + CD → AD + CB

  9. Double Reaction • AD + CB • An example of a double displacement reaction occurs between sodium chloride and silver nitrate to form sodium nitrate and silver chloride.

  10. Closure • Use your reference table it’s a big help
