  31. What are spiritual gifts? ‘… extraordinary endowments that the Spirit confers on chosen people.’ Leon Morris ‘… specific visible ways in which the Spirit manifests himself in the believing community, granting them ‘gracious bestowments’ to meet their various needs and thus to build them up…’ Gordon Fee

  41. William Booth ‘You must know you have a gift before you can use it. Every man is a genius in some direction. There is some specialty in which he excels beyond those about Him …Put yourself into circumstances in which you are likely to discover for yourself, and in which others can help you to find out, what gifts you do possess. I am afraid … thousands …live and die with abilities, which, had they been discovered, might have been the means of saving multitudes.’

  42. “This isn’t working for me!” You may be serving in a ministry position that doesn’t match your giftedness. This may indicate MATURITY AND A WILLINGNESS TO DO WHATEVER GOD HAS CALLED YOU TO DO. OR it may explain WHY YOU GET FRUSTRATED IN YOUR MINISTRY.

  43. The greatest ability God wants is AVAILABILITY. God doesn’t always CALL THE QUALIFIED, but He always QUALIFIES THE CALLED.

  44. Hindrances to Spiritual Gifting • Self-esteem problems • Pursuing someone’s else’s agenda for us • Avoiding distinctiveness/to be known • Trying to be just like someone else • Having to function in ungifted areas • Unwillingness to accept feedback

  45. Blocks to the Flow of Spiritual Gifts • Bondage – fear, damaged emotions from childhood, low self-esteem • Unresolved anger • Conflict with family members • Conflict with brothers & sisters in Christ • Irresponsibility • Sin
