  3. Climate • In the North by the Mediterranean it has hot , dry summers with mild, wet winters • In the plateau regions there are high temperatures and some rain • In the south by the Sahara, there are desert conditions

  4. Capital • Algiers capital of Algeria • Largest city in Algeria • Located on a bay of the Mediterranean Sea • Port city • U.S. State Department warns against travel to it

  5. “Official Things” • Currency- Algerian dinar • Language- Arabic

  6. Economy • Main industry is export of oil and gas products • Some areas grow wheat , barley, potatoes, vegetables, oranges, olives, grapes, dates • Mountain slopes and plateaus used to raise sheep, cattle and goats

  7. Interesting Sights • There are a number of places in Algeria where Roman remains can be found Djemila Tipaza Timgad Hippo Regius
