  1. Clara Barton 1821 - 1912

  2. 1833-1835 She was born in Massachusetts. Clara’s brother David was hurt. She took care of him for 2 years.

  3. 1839-1852 Clara became a teacher. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse for 13 years.

  4. 1860-1862 She moved to Washington, D.C. in 1860. In 1861 the Civil War began. Clara collected supplies for soldiers, then took the supplies to the battlefields. She was called the “Angel of the Battlefield”

  5. 1881-1911 Clara created the American Red Cross Society in 1881. They help people hurt by war or disasters.

  6. 1912 Clara Barton died in 1912.
