Our mission The independent advocate for equality and human rights in Britain, the Equality and Human Rights Commission aims to reduce inequality, eliminate discrimination, strengthen good relations between people, and promote and protect human rights.

  3. Overview of Our strategic priorities and three year plan • Building a society without prejudice - promoting good relations and fostering a vibrant equality and human rights culture in Britain • A Fairer Britain for all - reducing the gap in outcomes to secure fair life chances, access to services and dignified treatment • Secure and implement an effective legislative and regulatory framework for equality and human rights

  4. Overview of Our strategic priorities and three year plan • Promote awareness and understanding of rights - delivering timely and accurate advice and guidance to individuals and employers across the public and private sectors • Build an authoritative and responsive organisation

  5. Tackling Inequalities and Discrimination • One of the main roles of the EHRC will be to enforce equality legislation on religion or belief and encourage compliance with the Human Rights Act • This will also involve giving support, advice and guidance on the appropriate legislations

  6. Developinggoodrelations between people • In Britain today, people of no and many different faiths and beliefs liveside by side. The opportunity is there for all to work together to build asociety rooted in the values we treasure. • Thismeans finding ways to live our lives with integrity and allowing others todo so. • Many different religious traditions, as well as other belief systems offer resources for this and teach the importance of good relationshipscharacterized by honesty, compassion and generosity of spirit • We will work in partnership with organizations, to harness their strengths and resources to developing good relations between people.

Promoting and Protecting Human Rights • Recognition of the need to protect human freedom and human dignity iscommon to the social and moral teachings of all the major faiths and nonreligious associations such as the Humanist Association. • We will be working in partnership, with major faiths and non religiousassociations on the common understanding of the core principles of human rights in promoting and protecting human rights.
