IT Operational Update – Year One, 1st Half • Hired team of 10 IT professionals • Developed key processes • Evaluated, purchased, installed hardware and software for nees.org and NEEShub • Transitioned nees.org from San Diego h/w to Purdue h/w • Began to ramp on HUBzero architecture, foundation for NEEShub

IT Operational Update – April to Aug 2010 • www.nees.org moved to ‘keep the lights on’ • IT team shifted focus to NEEShub Release 1 development • NEEShub Release 1 went live on July 31 • NEEScentral User Accounts systematically migrated to NEEShub • Key Delivered Functionality • Project Warehouse display, inDEED • Groups, News, Site Information/Calendar • Initial Training Videos • Delayed Functionality • Project Editor, PEN, and Web Services • Workaround is Manual Data Upload initiated through Support ticket • Unstructured Projects • Mailing Lists - prior mechanism still functional

IT Operational Update – Next Steps • Respond to tickets and complete remaining Release 1 functionality • Participate in High-level Planning meetings • Move into Release 2 • Establish release timeline • Gathered, scrub, and organize requirements • RAAS will prioritize requirements in September • Tentatively planning for 2 Releases before April 2011 with smaller enhancements delivered along the way

Data Update • Project inherited Data Curation Backlog • Backlog worked by NEESinc and NEEScomm Data Curators • See Annual Report diagram • Data Sharing and Archiving Policy updated • Simplified and streamlined • Data Goals defined • Year 1 Data Management Plan created • Highlights include • Digital Preservation Self-audit • Metadata improvements • NEEShub Tools to support curation • Improved Data Curation Checklist under development • Researcher Orientation targeted for Year 2
