Registering your data In this session we will give you an opportunity to register two of your three data sets using the KNB data registry.
Data Registries • Why are they important?
KNB Data Registry • A variety of different interfaces based on organizational needs
Searching with KNB • Simple and advanced searching available • Simple searching through given fields or simple string • Advance searching author’s last name or title
Example searching for productivity • Simple search using productivity • Primary production
Associated Metadata • Data Set • Data Table • Xml files

Registering with KNB in the lower left-hand part of your screen you will notice a login & registration box
Registering with KNB Click on link “create new account” to open the window where you can create your metacat account
Creating your Metacat Account • This window will open • Please fill in the registration information • Register as unaffiliated • Information in red is required.
Creating your Metacat Account • Write down this information as you will need your username and password to create your profile in Morpho! • You can use this account to search for data on the KNB website and to access data on Morpho
Registering your data on line in the lower right-hand part of your screen you will notice a data management box
Registering your data on line Click on link “Register your dataset online” to open the new window
Please continue on your own or in small groups entering metadata for two of your three datasets. • Feel free to ask questions of the trainers. • When everyone has completed registering two of their datasets we will resume with a group discussion on eml and data registry.
