  4. Who Writes FITREPS?

  5. Counseling • Choose a time and place that is convenient for both parties • Be knowledgeable of the people you are counseling • Require Brag Sheets (format in The Word) • Do not go over FITREPS with other MIDN, they are for the MIDN and Chain only

Mid-Term Counseling • First round FITREP must be filled in, reviewed, signed by MIDN, and turned in • Identify strengths and shortcomings • Address performance problems • Present a performance growth plan • Ensure member understands their performance • Review what is required before next period • MAKE SURE TO PROVIDE EXAMPLES

  7. Grading Your Subordinates • Guard against grade inflation • Leave room for improvement • Order subordinates from best to worst, make the median MIDN average • Stay consistent and objective • Grade based on criteria presented, not on outside circumstances

  23. Common Mistakes • Lack of all caps (except comments section) • Not having ALL dates in yrMONda format • Punctuation other than commas in names • Block 29 inaccurate – check with your people • Grammar and spelling in comments • Check yourself in a word processor. Copy and paste into NavFit98A
