  3. Power of Positive Thinking!  Is your glass half empty or half full?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qULSszbA-Ek Positive thinking doesn't mean that you keep your head in the sand and ignore life's less pleasant situations. Positive thinking just means that you approach the unpleasantness in a more positive and productive way. You think the best is going to happen, not the worst.

  4. Positive Self Talk • Self-talk: The endless stream of unspoken thoughts that run through your head every day. • Are they negative or positive thoughts? YOU decide!

  5. Health Benefits Researchers continue to explore the effects of positive thinking and optimism on health: • Increased life span • Lower rates of depression • Lower levels of distress • Greater resistance to the common cold • Better psychological and physical well-being • Reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease • Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress

  6. Balancing Positivity • Researchers have found that in some instances, optimism might not serve you well. • For example, people who are excessively optimistic might overestimate their own abilities and take on more than they can handle, ultimately leading to more stress and anxiety. • Finding a good balance between being positive and being realistic is absolutely necessary!

  7. Attitude is EVERYTHING! • Just remember, when you think you have it bad, someone out there maybe, just maybe, might be fighting a bigger battle. • 95% of your emotions are determined by how you interpret events for yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8ZuKF3dxCY&feature=related

  8. Your Turn! In partners, you will be changing negative statements to positive. How can you change a bad situation and find the good in it!?
