  1. Social Media and Fundraising Carmichael Centre for Voluntary Groups Seminar October 24th, 2013 Presented by Caroline Egan CramdenTECH Ltd.

  2. Better Together Campaign http://www.bettertogether.ie/videos/search

  3. Three Things to Consider… Technology: social media, responsive websites, crowd funding platforms Engagement: building empathy with the donor. Social media helps! The “Ask”: What is your elevator pitch?

  4. Technology Websites should be optimised for mobile Optimise direct debit donor sign-up for mobile Digital technology should be integral to fundraising Use a platform that works for you!

  5. Technology: Crowd Funding Concept: 100’s or 1000’s of donors pool contributions into what they believe is a great cause Allows charities piggyback on large user base No technical skills required In Ireland, look up: www.pledgup.com www.ifund.ie www.fundit.ie www.linkedfinance.com

  6. Technology: Crowd Funding Internationally, look up: www.fundraise.com www.fundly.com www.firstgiving.com www.youcaring.com www.gofundme.com

  7. Engagement Video strategy: YouTube, Vimeo, Vine Imagery strategy: Instagram, Flickr, Pinterest At the very least ensure that donors: know how their money is being spent, who they are helping and what you do Identify the emotional triggers to giving Know what the donors values are – then empathise – align the cause to the values

  8. The “Ask” Your elevator pitch: BIG idea, SIMPLE to understand , DONOR as HERO Can you draw your “ask”?

  9. The “Ask” refined for Social Media You need to communicate a simple persuasive fundraising idea: Example: RNIB Everyday 100 people start to lose their sight. We need your support to help rebuildlives devastated by sight loss. (less than 140 characters!) = (NEED) (SOLUTION) (NOW)
