  6. WHS Rules/Expectations • You are in high school NOW! • Students are expected to act with proper behavior at all times. This includes traveling to and from school, on school premises, on school buses, at bus stops, at school sponsored or school related events, and at athletic events. School policies apply to all school related events.

  7. Transportation • You will not be allowed on a bus without your ID and Bus # on it. • That is both in the morning and afternoon. • If you haven’t paid, you must do so prior to the start of school. Check with your parents.

  8. WHS Rules/Expectations Dress code Absolutely NO: • Flip–flops/ athletic sandals • Short shorts/skirts • Strapless/One-strap tops • Spaghetti straps • Hats/hoods

  9. If you violate the dress code: • You will not attend classes until the issue is resolved. • You will have the opportunity to: check your locker, find a friend, or call home to bring you something. • If none of these options work, you will sit in IWS for the day. • Don’t violate the dress code!

  10. WHS Rules/Expectations Attendance: • You need to be here, everyday! • We can’t teach empty seats! • If you are absent unexcused more than 6 times in a quarter you will earn an F* (59%). • If you earned lower than a 59%, that grade will be assigned.

  11. WHS Rules/Expectations • Be here daily….ON TIME! • If you arrive to WHS after 7:30am or leave prior 2:15pm, you MUST check in/out at the security desk in the Gold Building. • You will need your ID to do so. • Parents must check in through the security desk as well.

  12. WHS Rules/Expectations • NO SMOKING anywhere on WHS property.(parking lot, cars, road ways, etc.) • 1st offense $100, 2nd = $200, 3rd = $300, 4th = Administrative Hearing at Town Hall. In a period of 3 years. • You will be searched based on suspicion of smoking • No cigarettes/lighters or other tobacco associated products allowed on school grounds.

  13. WHS Rules/Expectations Consequences • Detentions: Mon-Thu (2:30-3:15) • Skipped detention = full day of IWS • IWS: Independent Work Station • 1st cut class = detention. • 2nd cut class = full day of IWS.

  14. IWS • 7:30 -2:15 • Student must report to 021 by 7:30. Late students will be assigned IWS next day. If late again = External suspension. • Upon entry to school get all necessary materials from locker and leave all phones, electronics, etc. • Students will not be dismissed unless parent directly contacts Mr. Harlan

  15. Electronics • Cell phones should not be seen or heard from 7:30am – 2:15pm • If a staff member sees your cell phone, expect it to be confiscated, even if its not in use • You will be able to retrieve it from the office at 2:15, unless it is a repeat offense. Then your parents will have to come and get it.

  16. Electronics • Ipods should not be seen or heard from 7:30am – 2:15pm. • Earbuds/Headphones should not be worn anywhere inside the building. • Not in a classroom, hallway, cafeteria, gym, bathroom, etc. • These too, will be taken away.

These activities are a valuable asset to student life at WHS. These groups help develop talents and skills, educate students beyond the regular school day, and provide times and memories that make high school an enjoyable part of one's life. • WHS recognizes the extracurricular programs as an integral part of the curriculum. Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular programs and to request the information of clubs in which they are interested. Clubs and organizations are limited only by the interests of the students.

So What Now? • All students will remain with your HomeRoom and your upperclassmen guides will direct you to your HR. • You will then go on a directed tour of the building. • Stay with your assigned group. • Listen to your tour guide and ask questions. You will appreciate it next week! • Pictures will be taken during your tour. Everyone must take a picture for your school ID. • All groups will return here at the end of the tour.
