  2. Who discovered it? • Wallace Carothers discovered Nylon in 1935.

  3. When was it discovered? • Nylon was discovered February 28th, 1935.

  4. How was it made? • Wallace Carothers produced a half-ounce of polymer from hexamethylenediamine and adipic acid, which created polyamide 6-6, the substance that would come to be known as Nylon.

  5. What are it’s uses? • Nylon is a high strength fibre. It is used for making fishing nets, ropes, parachutes and type cords. • It is used for making fabrics in textile industry. • Crinkled nylon fibers are used for making elastic hosiery. • Nylon is widely used as plastic for making machine parts.
