Sacred Space: Developing a Giving Heart by God’s Way

According to the Biblical teachings, God’s definition of Goodness is- total giving, total service, and absolute unselfishness. We are to live for others. You live for others and others live for you. There is no contentment in having or in getting, but only in giving and in actuality, the second True religion is giving and finding one’s happiness by bringing happiness into the lives of others.<br>

  1. Sacred Space: Developing a Giving Heart by God’s Way According to the Biblical teachings, God’s definition of Goodness is- total giving, total service, and absolute unselfishness. We are to live for others. You live for others and others live for you. There is no contentment in having or in getting, but only in giving and in actuality, the second True religion is giving and finding one’s happiness by bringing happiness into the lives of others. 2. Giving simply because it is right to give, without thought of return, at a proper time, in proper circumstances, and to a worthy person, is enlightened giving. In turn, giving with regrets or in the expectation of getting something in return is selfish giving. This presentation is brought to you by Jerryjohnston.com

  3. The Word of God on Giving: Matthew 6:1-4 Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who seeswhat is donein secret will reward you. 4. And when you give… There are twelve types of givers and types of giving stated in the teachings of Bible. We should seriously think about this list of various types of givers and then strive to give our best to the Lord and His service. This presentation is brought to you by Jerryjohnston.com

  5. The Bible Teaches the Following vital Principles For Christian Giving: • Lord Jesus Wants Our Experience of Giving to Be Really Joyful:Pushing ourselves to release the goods is it the real giving? Think of the receiving end, when the person will take something with a scowl on your face. • The simple point is; we are breaking three hearts in such case. The major one is of God, then the receiver and then you. So, why hold grudges, or come under any compulsion or external force while giving. Open your heart; when you give and feel the happiness reflected on the face of the taker, and take the immense pleasure coming from taker’s smile. • “Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart; not grudgingly or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7, emphasis mine, NASV)” This presentation is brought to you by Jerryjohnston.com

  6. The Lord Jesus Wants Us To Give For The Right Reasons: Jesus warned His disciples not to give or donate for the sake of admiration or self-motive. “Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them,” He said (Matthew 6:1). • When we give, we must be careful to examine our motives. We are to give for gratifying God, for the glory of God and with the thought to accomplish God’s desire and of course for the good of His people. We must take care that we desire His approval of our giving, rather than the praise and admiration of people. • We Are To Give According To Our Ability (Ezra 2:69, Nehemiah 5:8, 2 Corinthians 8:3, 12) This presentation is brought to you by Jerryjohnston.com

  7. Certainly, we can’t give what we don’t have, and we are not to put our families at risk of not having shelter to live in or food to eat.  It does nothing good when you dole out financial assistance to someone and fail to pay a bill or bounce a check?  God understands the circumstances and he wants us to be benevolent and ultimately give when we really could or are capable to. The Christian’s way is backwards, getting much more joy out of giving than receiving. Jesus Himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).
