Women’s Role Before Industrial Revolution Women were not allowed to: - Vote - Hold public office - Be involved in legal contracts - Own property - own money (all money earned had to be given to their husbands or other family members) -Most people believed a women’s place was at home with the kids

  3. Change to Women’s Rights Women: - Could now become more involved in religious affaires - Could now go to college (first male and female college was made in 1833) - Could now be involved in labor work - Fought for rights to vote and hold public office - Fought to stop segregation from men

  4. Cult of Domesticity a movement that arose during the Industrial Revolution urging women to remain in the home environment .

  5. Republican Motherhood The role of the mother was to raise the children to be civil and upstanding citizens that would contribute to our new upholding government.
