Who Is the God of the Bible?

The God of the Bible is a Creating God • “Nothing is complete in itself but requires something outside itself in order to exist.” ― A.W. Tozer, The Knowledge of the Holy (Hebrews 1, Colossians 1, Genesis 1-2)

The God of the Bible is a Holy God. • God cannot change for the better, for He is already perfect; and being perfect, He cannot change for the worse. A.W. Pink (Isaiah 6, Revelation 4, 2 Samuel 6)

The God of the Bible is a Just God. • Exodus 34:7 The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, 7 keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children's children, to the third and the fourth generation.”

Romans 3:21-25 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it—22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Our Just God- continued “Sin is cosmic treason. Sin is treason against a perfectly pure Sovereign. It is an act of supreme ingratitude toward the One to whom we owe everything, to the One who has given us life itself. What are we saying to our Creator when we disobey Him at the slightest point? We are saying no to the righteousness of God. We are saying, “God, Your law is not good. My judgment is better than Yours. Your authority does not apply to me. I am above and beyond Your jurisdiction. I have the right to do what I want to do, not what You command me to do.” R.C. Sproul

The God of the Bible is a Sovereign God. • If there is one maverick molecule in all the universe, then God is not sovereign. And if God is not sovereign, He is not God. R.C. Sproul • (Ephesians 1, Romans 8, Acts 7-8:1)

Divine sovereignty is not the sovereignty of a tyrannical Despot, but the exercised pleasure of One who is infinitely wise and good! Because God is infinitely wise He cannot err, and because He is infinitely righteous He will not do wrong. A.W. Pink
