  2. Objective On their own, students should be able to apply the concepts and skills they learned in SSS and Economics to promote sustainability in a real-life community.

  3. What is sustainability in Economics?

  4. Mechanics • Each class will be assigned a particular community in Pasig. • Each class will be divided into five groups with eight members each. • As a class, they will visit the community to assess their needs and resources by means of observation and interviews. (to be done in SSS)

  5. Mechanics • As a group, the students will brainstorm on potential business ideas which respond to the community’s needs and which are feasible given their available resources. • The groups will present their proposal to the community representative/s. • The community representative/s will select from among the five proposals presented to them.

  12. What should be on your written proposal? (layout to be provided after grouping) • Division of tasks among members • To work on acquisition and accounting of resources (3 members) • To work on the product design and lead in teaching the community (3 members) • To work on publicity materials and sales (2 members) • Short description of the good or service to be produced and why it is beneficial to the community • What need of the local community does this good or service respond to?

(layout to be provided after grouping) • Budget breakdown (to be presented in tabular form) • What material and human resources will be used? • How much is the budget allocation for these resources? • Proposed production schedule (to be presented in tabular form) • How do you propose to set-up the business in 3 months?
