  8. Our Advisory Board Our Advisory Board ASIA SPA ACADEMY ADVISORY BOARD WAS ESTABLISHED IN . THE BOARD IS CHAIRED BY AND FEATURES OF EDUCATORS , PARTNERS OF FOREIGN SPAS, ETC. OBJECTIVE TO PROVIDE ADVICE REGARDING ASIA SPA ACADEMY PROGRAMMES, MARKET TRAINING NEEDS , AND RELATED MATTERS AND ACTIVITIES. THE RELATED MATTERS AND ACTIVITIES INCLUDE CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT, INTERNSHIPS, SCHOLARSHIPS, INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAMMES, AND EMPLOYMENT OF THE SCHOOL'S GRADUATES. RESPONSIBILITIES OF BOARD TO GIVE ADVISORY ASSISTANCE TO THE SCHOOL IN TWO MAIN AREAS: •THE CHANGING NEEDS, IN TERMS OF EXPERTISE AND ATTRIBUTES, OF THERAPIST IN SPA PRACTICE •THE ENGAGEMENT AND INVOLVEMENT OF ACTIVITIES IN THE SPA ACADEMY EXPECTED FREQUENCY OF MEETING 2 TIMES PER YEAR

She was also the President of Spa Wellness Association Singapore from 2005-2010 and Co-Founder and Advisory Chairwoman of Asia Spa Academy. Dr. Chew has created many firsts in the Asia Spa Industry. Professor Gerard Bodeker (Spectacular Spa) Professor Bodeker works internationally in the wellness and complementary medicine fields and has published extensively on traditional & complementary medicine. An Australian, whose doctoral studies were at Harvard, he is a senior faculty member in public health at Oxford University and Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology at Columbia University, New York. Dr. & Professor Emeritus Roberta Leung Roberta has been active in the hotel, tourism and hospitality industry for over 20 yrs and has been teaching in 14 universities internationally for 20 yrs. She is a specialist consultant and expert educator in Human Resource Management and Hospitality Management and has worked with Regent International Hotels, Century International Hotels, Westin International Hotels and Inter-Continental Hotels.   12. Mr. Bernard Burt (Spectacular Spas) Documenting the spa explosion of the 1980s changed Bernard Burt’s lifestyle. As spas evolved from luxury resorts and fat farms to sources of lifestyle learning, his column in Spa Management Journal and Pulse magazine documented the latest trends. Now online for HealingLifestyles.com Web Exclusives, he keeps spagoers informed on resort openings and industry events. Burt authored “100 Best Spas of the World” for the Globe Pequot Press, “Fodor’s Healthy Escapes” for Random House, and spa news at SpaGoer.com. Founding director of the International Spa Association (ISPA), he has staged conferences in the U.S. and Europe, shared insights at the London Spa Show, aboard the Queen Mary 2, and in Singapore for ASA.   14. Susan Teng Susan is the ex-founder of Worldwide Honey Tours Pte Ltd and is the first travel agent in Singapore that specializes in marketing and selling of Spa packages. She first started marketing spas in the early 90s, starting off with only 2 Destination Spas – Javana Spa in Indonesia & Chiva-som in Thailand as well as some of the spas in Europe. To date she has over 60 spa resorts on her portfolio spanning the region and beyond. She was in the steering committee in the formation of the ISPA association in Singapore in the early 90s.. She is the present President of SWAS (Spa & Wellness Association of Singapore), the Outbound Chairman of NATAS (National Association of Travel Agents in Singapore) and she has also held various positions in the Executive Committee of The Women's Travel Club of Singapore as well as being the present Vice President.
