  2. O for a thousand tongues to singMy great Redeemer’s praise,The glories of my God and King,The triumphs of His grace! My gracious Master and my God,Assist me to proclaim,To spread through all the earth abroadThe honors of Thy name.

  3. Jesus! the name that charms our fears,That bids our sorrows cease;’Tis music in the sinner’s ears,’Tis life, and health, and peace. He breaks the power of canceled sin,He sets the prisoner free; His blood can make the foulest clean,His blood availed for me.

  4. He speaks, and, listening to His voice,New life the dead receive,The mournful, broken hearts rejoice,The humble poor believe. Hear Him ye deaf; His praise ye dumb,Your loosened tongues employ;Ye blind, behold your Savior come,And leap, ye lame, for joy.

  5. Look unto Him, ye nations, ownYour God, ye fallen race;Look and be saved through faith aloneBe justified by grace. See all your sins on Jesus laid:The Lamb of God was slain,His soul was once an offering madeFor every soul of man.

  6. John 20:19-23 19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, Peace be with you! 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

  7. 21 Again Jesus said, Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you. 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven. What mission do we receive from Jesus? Not Saviour of the World! John 19:30 Proclaiming the forgiveness of sins.

  12. The Priesthood of Christ I’m not walking a holiness tightrope The Priesthood of All Believers We’re moving out together into the world

  13. John 20:24-31 24 Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.25 So the other disciples told him, We have seen the Lord! But he said to them, Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it.

  14. John 20:24-31 26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, Peace be with you! 27 Then he said to Thomas, Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.

  15. 28 Thomas said to him, My Lord and my God! 29 Then Jesus told him, Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. 30 Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. 31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

  16. The Word of God

  17. Genesis 15 1 After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” 2But Abram said, O Sovereign LORD, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus? 3 And Abram said, You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.

  18. Genesis 15 4 Then the word of the LORD came to him: This man will not be your heir, but a son coming from your own body will be your heir. 5 He took him outside and said, Look up at the heavens and count the stars— if indeed you can count them. Then he said to him, So shall your offspring be. 6 Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

  19. 1 Samuel 3 1 The boy Samuel ministered before the LORD under Eli. In those days the word of the LORD was rare; there were not many visions...7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD: The word of the LORD had not yet been revealed to him...

  20. 1 Samuel 3 19 The LORD was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of his words fall to the ground.  20 And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba recognised that Samuel was attested as a prophet of the LORD. 21 The LORD continued to appear at Shiloh, and there he revealed himself to Samuel through his word.

  21. Psalm 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him.

  22. Psalm 33 4 For the word of the LORD is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. 5 The LORD loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.

  23. Jeremiah 1 4 The word of the LORD came to me, saying,5Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.6Ah, Sovereign LORD, I said, I do not know how to speak; I am only a child.

  24. Jeremiah 1 7 But the LORD said to me, Do not say, 'I am only a child.' You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you, declares the LORD.

  25. Jeremiah 1 9 Then the LORD reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, Now, I have put my words in your mouth. 10 See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.

  26. John 1 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

  27. Acts Acts 6:7:  So the word of God spread. Acts 12:24: But the word of God continued to increase and spread. Acts 13:49:  The word of the Lord spread through the whole region. Acts 19:20:  In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.

  28. 1 Thessalonians 8 We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us. 9 Surely you remember, brothers, our toil and hardship; we worked night and day in order not to be a burden to anyone while we preached the gospel of God to you. 10 You are witnesses, and so is God, of how holy, righteous and blameless we were among you who believed.

  29. 1 Thessalonians 11 For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, 12 encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory. 13 And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.

  30. Hebrews Hebrews 4:12: For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

  31. Hebrews Hebrews 4:12: For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.Hebrews 13:7: Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God.”

  32. The Threefold Word Christ Scripture Proclamation

  33. Matthew 10:40“He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives the one who sent me.” • Luke 10:16 • He who listens to you listens to me; he who rejects you rejects me; but he who rejects me rejects him who sent me.

  34. When are my words God’s words? When Christ is proclaimed biblically Bible Proclamation Christ

  35. If this is true, how should it affect the mannerof our proclamation?

  36. Christ must be proclaimed biblically

  37. John 5 37 And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form, 38 nor does his word dwell in you, for you do not believe the one he sent. 39 You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life...

  38. John 5 ...45 But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set. 46 If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. 47 But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?

  39. Luke 24

  40. Luke 24 44 Jesus said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” 45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures....

  41. Luke 24 46 He told them,“This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

  42. Christ must be proclaimed biblically My job is not to speak about the Bible. My job is to speak about what the bible speaks about: CHRIST

  43. “I offered them Christ.” Cool Credibility Creeds Courses

  44. Christ must be proclaimed biblically Acts 17:11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

  45. Christ must be proclaimed biblically “If I say, "I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name," there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, indeed I cannot.” Jeremiah 20:9

  46. Christ must be proclaimed biblically “Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!” 1 Corinthians 9:16 “It has been written, "I believed, and so I spoke," we also believe, and so we also speak.” 2 Corinthians 4:13

  47. Christ must be proclaimed biblically “The love of Christ controls us... Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making His appeal through us.” 2 Corinthians 5:14-21

  48. Christ must be proclaimed biblically The evangelist is never capable of speaking of Christ. They are incapable of doing anything else.
