  2. Early Life • Johnny Cash was born Arkansas, on February 26, 1932 • Johnny began composing songs, his first at the age of 12 • While stationed in Germany, that he bought his first guitar. • "Folsom Prison Blues

  3. Start to Stardom • Met Luther and Marshall Perkins • Auditioned for Sun Records in March 1955 • Signed to Sun as Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Two, • Their first single, "Cry, Cry, Cry," became a moderate country hit

  4. Changes • Group added a drummer and became Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Three • August 1958 group switched to Columbia Records • After moving to California, Cash started working with June Carter • 1963 “Ring of Fire”

  5. Late Life • Died September 12, 2003 • Johnny Cash is known as the first international country star • He won 7 Grammy Awards
