Basic Operations Getting Started click sleep/wake Press Home button if you don’t shut it off slide to unlock View Most Recent/Shut Down double tap “Home” View Portrait or Landscape double click home button, flick screen to extreme left to lock screen (settings change side switch between mute and lock)
  3. Basic Operations (cont’d) Rearranging Icons touch and hold until icons jiggle. Drag icon to desired postion. Create folders by dragging icons on top of one another. Rename the folder Zoom In/Out Basic operations: photos, webpages, maps Pinch fingers together/ apart
  4. Navigating Multi-tasking During one app, double-click Home to switch apps To delete an app from the task bar, tap and hold it. Then tap “minus” sign Click on Home to exit multi-tasking
  5. Capture Screen Shots Capture a screenshot by holding down the Home and then pressing and releasing sleep/wake button simultaneously. View saved image, access the photos from the Home Screen photo or camera app Import to your computer using photo application (iPhoto)
  6. Move and Delete Apps Tap and hold app to move it Can move it once it wiggles Delete To delete, tap the X then delete Cancel To remove the X’s, click Home button
  7. Accessibility Features On Device – settings>general>accessibility RECOMMEND DO NOT USE: Voice Over tells you about each element on the screen. Tells you screen orientation NOTE: the standard touchscreen behaviors differently with VO on WARNING: hard to shut off!
  8. Accessibility Zoom magnifies the entire screen of any app you are using White on Black inverts it to a color negative Large Text converts to large text in contacts, alerts and email.

Not just an SLP site.

Tips for Schools Use generic accounts for iPads (we do) Accounts are set up without a credit card We maintain a central list of passwords for each school so staff changes do not affect us We need to maintain a list of “authorized” computers • Uncheck - “Automatically launch iTunes when this device is connected” • Check to “Manually manage music and content”
  12. ENABLE Restrictions Go to Settings>General> Restrictions to enable Restrictions Turn off access to a variety of apps, PREVENT installation of Apps, or DELETING of apps etc.

Doesn’t resay the word (If it’s free it is okay) Vocabeans – provides picture and word outloud. 50 words available free Word Families – if you CAN make it work, let me know. Idea is great Soundslot – 3 pictures and a sound – pick correct sound
