Prohibited and Restricted Items Specific restrictions on liquids Restrictions on the quantities of liquids, gels or pastes are: they must be held in individual containers not exceeding 100ml the containers must be carried in a separate, clear-plastic, zip-top or re- sealable bag the bag must not exceed 20cm x 20cm (8ins x 8ins) in dimensions the bag must not exceed one litre (1.75 pints) capacity the bag must be completely closed the items must fit comfortably in the bag the bag must be x-ray screened separately from other hand baggage at airport security points. The containers must be carried in a separate clear plastic, zip-top or re-sealable bag that does not exceed 20cm x 20cm (8 x 8 inches) or equivalent to one litre (1.75 pint) capacity. Items must fit in the bag comfortably and the bag must be completely closed. At the airport security search, the plastic bag must be removed from the cabin bag and x-ray screened separately.

Trip overview When and where Sorrento, Italy Pompeii Vesuvius Amalfi Coast Solfatara Capri Aim of the tour The focus of the tour is to look at the natural hazards present in the area to help with the GCSE Natural Hazards module. In addition, the trip will give the students a better understanding of coastal processes and human geography issues such as settlement and tourism.

  8. Pompeii The first stop on the tour! Here we’ll look at the effects of a Volcanic eruption. Students will have a task to Complete whilst exploring the Town.

  9. Vesuvius What does the crater of a volcano Look like? We’ll have a guided tour around The volcano including a nice and Tiring walk up to the top!

  10. Amalfi Coast Panoramic tour of the coast Opportunity to take pictures!

  11. Solfatara We’ll visit an active volcano!

  13. Accommodation Hotel Mary, Vico Equense With magnificent views across the bay of Naples, the Hotel Mary is a friendly hotel with a traditional regional feel. The bedrooms, which sleep 1-4 persons are en-suite with air conditioning and have Satellite TV and Safe.The hotel has its own beach, pool and jaccuzzi and it is situated about 5 minutes walk from the town centre with its shops, restaurants and cafes.

  14. Meals We’ll eat at the hotel every evening, except one night we’ll head to a local pizzeria where we have booked ‘all you can eat’ pizza for everyone  Lunches will be provided by the hotel and are of good quality. There won’t be much opportunity to supplement these with your own purchases unless we have time to visit the shops in Vico Equense in the evening.

  15. Travel tips - currency The currency in Italy is the Euro. We recommend that students take €50 with them on the visit in cash. Ideally small denominations Rather than a single €50 note so that we can operate a Banking system for the students and buy things More easily.

  16. Travel tips – what to bring • A small backpack that your child is able to carry themselves. • Basic toiletries – shampoo and soap, toothbrush and toothpaste. • These MUST be in a small transparent bag for the airport! • Towel (Check with your accommodation) • Sensible shoes • Sun lotion • Camera (it is the students own responsibility, please read the insurance documents)

  17. Travel tips – European health insurance card All Halsbury tours are covered by our travel insurance, But we recommend that all student also bring a European Health Insurance Card with them. The E111 is the certificate that entitles you to treatment that becomes necessary during your visit to the EEA or Switzerland. We recommend that all your students obtain a European Health Insurance Card (new name for the old E111) before travelling. If a students needs medical treatment while abroad, they will be treated for free rather than having to pay and claim the money back afterwards. You can apply through the NSH online.
