  1. Editorials • Excellent introductions. • Consider adding a preview statement of your 3 reasons to make them clear from the beginning. • Position statements were very clear in all papers.

  2. Editorial • You should have exactly 3 reasons. Not 2, not 5. Each reason should be previewed in your introductory paragraph. Identify when you move from one reason to another with proper paragraphing or the use of transitions.

  3. Editorials • For each reason, you should express your own ideas and beliefs, ALONG WITH support from one of your sources. This was a MAJOR problem for many of you. Integrate this source support within your reasons, not separately. • Find a quote from your source and integrate it into your paragraph. Then elaborate on how this quote supports your reason and point of view. • When you quote a source, you need to identify the article or source and the author within the paragraph. If you quote the same source more than once, just use the author’s last name after the first time. • This includes your interview. Do NOT include a list of questions and answers from your interview. Incorporate the conversation into the support for your three reasons or into your opposing view paragraph, if applicable.

  4. Editorials • Organization of Paragraphs: • Introduction • Body • Body paragraphs can be split if you feel they are too long, but then you need to make sure that your 3 reasons are CLEARLY DEFINED. • Body • Body • Opposing Argument • Alternative: address one opposing claim at the END of each of your body paragraphs that relates to that particular reason. • Suggestion (can be part of your conclusion) • Conclusion

  5. Editorials • Finish with a powerful, memorable conclusion, not just a recap of everything you already said. • PROOFREAD
