  2. CONCRETE BRICKS

Concrete bricks • This are cast from a mixture of fine, coarse aggregates and cement pressed into steal moulds. • The natural setting and hardening process of cement determines the compressive strength of this bricks. • They may be solid or frogged and are available as facings, commons and engineering quality.

  4. Size • The standard metric size is particularly the same as for clay bricks, being 215*103*65mm. Metric modular bricks are 190mm and 290mm long to give courses 65mm and 90mm deep and are available to order.

  5. colour • The basic colour of concrete bricks is grey due to the portland cement. Inorganic powder pigments are used to produce a range of plain and multi- colour bricks.

  6. Surface texture • Concrete bricks are made smooth faced, exposed aggregate weathered, or split so as to resemble natural stone.

  7. Compressive • Facings and commons are made with a compressive strength of 21 N/mm2: engineering quality at 40 N/mm2.
