  2. What is an insect? Insects are all over but there are many misunderstandings of what an insect is. This presentation will teach you how to identify an insect. You will learn what makes an insect an insect. Let’s get started!

  3. To be able to identify an insect you will have to know what an insect is. Here are some questions to think about: What is an insect? Does it have four legs? Does it have antennas? What do they look like?

  4. Are these both insects??? Grasshopper Spider

  5. Count the legs to see which is an insect. An insect is a small arthropod animal that has six legs and generally one or two pairs of wings.

  6. Are these insects???? Butterfly Armadillidiiae (aka Roly Poly)

  7. Do these critters have three body segments??? An insect has three body segments; a head, thorax and abdomen. They also have antennaes.

  8. Which critters are insects??

  9. So, tell me again, what is an insect?

  10. An Insect…. is a small arthropod animal. has three body segments; a head, an abdomen, and a thorax. has six legs and generally one or two pairs of wings.

  11. Hooray! Now you are experts in identifying insects! Go outside and explore the world and find some insects!
