Learning Objectives By the end of this training session, you will be able to: • Name the federal law that protects people from hazards in the workplace • Identify two places to find information about hazardous chemicals • Tell the difference between a physical hazard and health hazard • Name two types of health hazards • Locate four most important pieces of information on a hazardous chemical label • Locate a list of all hazardous materials used at ACPL • Locate written sheets describing hazardous materials

  7. Hazardous Materials in Libraries Hazardous materials or hazardous job duties are very minimal in a library setting, but they do exist!

  12. Use it or lose it What are some chemicals which you encounter at work? Look at the warning label on the container. Should you take any precautionary measures when using it? Think of one way you will change the way you handle this chemical.

  16. Use it or lose it Search online for the MSDS for your favorite household cleaner. Where did you look? Find the MSDS binder for your branch. Is it easy to locate? If not, could it be relocated in the housekeeping closet to make it more accessible?
