  2. E-mail Competencies • Open a mail system • Open mail from the Inbox • Prepare, address, and send mail • Request a return receipt for a sent message • Reply to mail • Delete unwanted mail • Save mail to a folder • Open an attachment • Attach a file to a message • Build a group mailing list

Mac or Windows COMPETENCIES • Use the mouse to click, double click, and drag • Arrange, resize, close, open, and move items on the desktop • Access and use the calculator • Retrieve information from a file • Place folders on the desktop • Empty the trash • Format a disk and change its name • Store and organize files on the hard drive • Store and organize files on a floppy disk • Store and organize files on a server • Backup to a server • Burning a CD • Rebuild desktop • Choosing a printer

Rational • This will enable teachers to develop appropriate written materials for their classrooms that can be easily printed, stored and edited in a variety of ways. • Teachers will be able to: • Prepare lesson plans • Write and save letters • Develop worksheets and tasks • Develop, maintain and save documents • Produce a MS Word Document with clipart and table inserted • This will enable teachers to use e-mail effectively to communicate with other colleagues, the administration, parents, and students.

Teachers will be able to: • Communicate more effectively with colleagues • Communicate more effectively with parents and students • Send and receive documents • This will enable teachers to use the feature of their operating system in a way that helps to store their work in a variety of ways in order to protect their work and make it easy to access in the future Teachers will be able to: • Rearrange the desktop and work with several files at once • Move and manipulate files between alternate storage devices • Find file locations and dates • Open a program, select a file from the hard drive make changes, and save it to the server

Internet Competencies • Find and launch appropriate web browser • Use a URL to access a web site • Move through a web site • Launch and use a search engine • Print a web page • Add a bookmark • Create a folder for bookmarks • Use the “go” function to quickly locate previous sites • Know Internet Policy

  7. Spreadsheet Competencies • Enter information into a spreadsheet document • Change size of columns and rows • Copy information from one cell to another • Add rows and columns • Add up a column/row of cells • Sort information within columns • Use a formula to calculate a result from data in the spreadsheet

  8. Technology Equipment • Use a digital camera • Use a digital video camera • Connect and use a LCD projector
