  4. What do these terms mean? • Indecipherability: not understandable; incomprehensible. • Archaic: words or phrases that are not used as much as they used to be • Archaic Language: a language that is no longer used or not used as much

  5. Examples: • 17th Century Dutch (indecipherable) • Ottoman Empire Turkish (indecipherable) • Lithuanian (few speakers) • Latvian (few speakers) • King James Version of the Bible (when written, was not widely used English) • Eastern Germanic Languages (Gothic)
