  1. Are you getting all the juicy news?Update and brainstorm TF-CPR meeting 06 October 2010 Carrie Solomon Communications Officer TERENA

  2. Agenda New functionality Joint promotion status Brainstorm on marketing PeaR

  3. New functionality A few meetings ago, Cristina led a brainstorm session about new features in PeaR. One important feature that was missing was the ability for you to upload your own graphic. Especially important when you represent different organisations, projects, or want to market specific services. Tada! http://www.dev.terena.org/news/community/

  4. Joint Promotion

  5. Marketing PeaR – where we left off At last TF-CPR meeting, we discussed the possibility of “branding” PeaR, by means of a logo, a tagline and possibly, a new name. The result was: Name: Keep the name “PeaR” since it is known in the community and as good as any other name! Logo: Create a new logo for PeaR, but create a logo that plays off the fruit (similar to the TNC poster) Tagline: Use “Are you getting all the juicy news?” in mass marketing of PeaR Create a better “descriptor/positioning statement” which addresses the new, wider target market

  6. PeaR logo • On behalf of TF-CPR, a designer was commissioned to mock up some simple logos • The result was the following drafts • In layout, looks like this

  7. PeaR positioning statement • Create a better “descriptor”/positioning statement which addresses the new, wider target market • that would go here • and anywhere else we want to talk about PeaR. • It currently reads: • “The news service for and by the Research and Education Networking Community in Europe”

  8. PeaR positioning statement – what is wrong with it? • Contributions for PeaR are global • Some specific organisations, like Internet Society, are posting news. Are they networking? • It’s a mouthful! • It’s not compelling. No explicit/implied benefits. • You’ve heard of speed-dating? • Now we are going to speed-brainstorm • Come up with your best positioning statement in 5 minutes. • Hint: (Product / Service / Company / Person) is the one (your category) that provides (your target audience) with (your key benefit) because (reason to believe you can deliver the benefit).

  9. RESULTS of tagline brainstormVotes Tagline 0 Global News for Networkers 4 News for Networkers0 News for the Research Networking Community 1 Human readable news for geeks 7 Sharing the news of networking communities Share the pear!
