  3. RICS Europe • In Brussels since 1993 for Continental Europe • Over 2 500RICSmembers • 1800 Students • 1000 Trainees • 46accredited courses and 3 partnerships (UK Universities • operating in Continental Europe) • 17 National Associations

Continental Europe Standards Board • Since February 2007 • For Continental Europe with continental European members • 14 members (practitioners and academics) • Devolution of educational matters and course accreditation • In the coming months the CESB will focus on: • developing a “partnership” approach to replace traditional course accreditation for 2008-09

  5. Entering into partnership with Universities • A course validation system seeking to provide mutual added • value to the relationship between RICS and a University. In order • to partner with RICS a University must meet a series of standards. • Then the mutual relationship is developed through annual • meetings where common goals are set and results of the • cooperation are reviewed.

Partnership Key Objectives and Principles • student selection : to ensure internationally respected standards of student selection on to RICS courses • research quality : to ensure that all students are exposed to the most innovative ideas while being taught • teaching quality and APC mapping to ensure that the curriculum is highly relevant to one or more APC pathways • employment of graduates and graduate conversion rates: to ensure that RICS has access to high calibre graduate output

What does it mean for the university ? • no formal accreditation or re-accreditation procedures – all is • confirmed at the annual partner meeting replacement of annual • monitoring report with shorter threshold statement at least one • meeting of the partnership a year to discuss inter alia: • new courses • curriculum • external examiner reports • conversion rates • RICS input to courses • meetings with students
