  3.  The new Farm Bill builds on historic economic gains in rural America over the past five years, while achieving meaningful reform and billions of dollars in savings for the taxpayer. • It will enable USDA to further expand markets for agricultural products at home and abroad, strengthen conservation efforts, create new opportunities for local and regional food systems and grow the biobased economy. It will provide a dependable safety net for America's farmers, ranchers and growers. It will maintain important agricultural research, and ensure access to safe and nutritious food for all Americans. • http://www.usda.gov/wps/portal/usda/usdahome?navid=farmbill Footer text here

  4. Five Ways the Farm Bill Strengthens our Economy • Reduces our deficits – by making the biggest reforms to our agricultural programs in decades – cutting wasteful loopholes and targeting support to farmers who most need our help • Generates $35 in economic benefits for every dollar invested by promoting trade to keep farm incomes strong • Authorizes and directs key rural programs that help promote local economic development – from connecting rural communities to broadband internet to setting up telemedicine programs in remote areas • Invests in programs and services that will help existing farmers stay prosperous and stay on their land – and prioritizes veterans seeking assistance under existing programs • Renews Conservation efforts to protect our fields, forests, and waters – and create new recreation and tourism opportunities. • http://www.whitehouse.gov/share/heres-how-comprehensive-farm-bill-goes-way-beyond-our-farms Footer text here

  5. 2014 Farm Act • The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects that 80 percent of outlays under the 2014 Farm Act will fund nutrition programs, 8 percent will fund crop insurance programs, 6 percent will fund conservation programs, 5 percent will fund commodity programs, and the remaining 1 percent will fund all other programs, including trade, credit, rural development, research and extension, forestry, energy, horticulture, and miscellaneous programs. • http://www.ers.usda.gov/agricultural-act-of-2014-highlights-and-implications.aspx#.VAUYqPldX3Q Footer text here
