  3. Fact Do you think Dr. Seuss was his real name? Of course it wasn’t!

  4. His real name was Theodore Seuss Geisel

  5. A long time ago, kids were given their middle names from their mom’s last name from before she got married.

  6. Seuss was his mom’s last name before she got married.

  7. Dr. Seuss added the Dr. to his name as a joke!

  8. Fact How many books do you think Dr. Seuss wrote? He wrote and published more than 40 books!

  9. Here’s another small fact: After his book was turned down 27 times he almost burned it!

  10. Fact Do you think Dr. Seuss had his own children?

  11. No. His wife said that he was afraid of kids.

  12. She said he didn’t know what to do with them.

  13. Fact • Dr. Seuss lived in Massachusetts as a child

  14. He moved to California when he was an adult and would lock himself away to write his books.

  15. Fact Dr. Seuss got his ideas from his mom who worked in a bakery and would sing him to sleep.

  24. Fact A book that causes controversy is something that some people like and others don’t. Dr. Seuss wrote a book that a lot of adults didn’t like very much. It was called The Butter Battle Book. Adults didn’t like it because it had a lot to do with grown-up things that were happening at the time. *Even Miss Rotz wasn’t alive when it was written!*

  25. His Life • Dr. Seuss was born on March 2, 1904 • He was married two times • Once to Helen Palmer from 1927-1967 • Then to Audrey Stone Dimond from 1968-1991 • He died on September 24, 1991 • He published 40 books • Kids today still love his books and movies made from them!
