Differences between Universal forwarder and the Heavy forwarder: • About the footprints in the forwarders, it will be light in weight for the Universal forwarder, and heavy in weight for the heavy forwarder. • The universal forwarder has separate packages and they cannot filter the data. The Heavy forwarder can filter, in the heavy forwarder it has the packages same as the indexer has. • The heavy forwarder is used for the universal forwarder and for the indexer. You will come across the term Search head that is used for the index search.
