  1. Blog 2: Globalrefininggroup.com EMISSION CONTROL IN YOUR AUTOMOBILE Catalytic converters have been around for a long time now, and they are here to stay. It is a well- known fact that exhausts gases coming out of the vehicles cause pollution. Researchers and technology innovators had been on a constant drive to invent something that could achieve emission control. This is how a catalytic converter was born. Soon enough, the authorities started mandating its compulsory usage as it was the only way forward if the automotive industry wished to flourish. Catalytic converters are nothing but a very masterclass example of what an engineer can do with skill. Catalytic converters are placed in a way that the exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine come in contact with the catalysts in the converter and get converted into simpler and less harmful products. Precious metals such as platinum, palladium and rhodium are used as the catalytic metals, as they have a very highly reactive composition. Catalytic converters are very valuable even after they fail to work as the precious metals can still be extracted and the rest of the parts can be scrapped. If you look for them online, you will find many catalytic converter buyers. These buyers procure failed catalytic converters from users and pawn them to recyclers in exchange for money. This has become a business now, solely for the reason that recoverable and recyclable materials are involved. The casing metal, the catalyst metal and nearly everything else can be sold for a decent price in the market.
