  1. Day 2Robust Vocabulary nearby– If something is nearby, it is close to you. What are some places that are far away from our school? What are some places that are nearby? Think about a place where you would like to live. What would you want to have nearby? If you hear thunder, what would you think is nearby? Why? What would you expect to happen next?

  2. Day 2Robust Vocabulary fright– If you feel fright, you are scared. Some wild animals are scary. If you were in the jungle and you saw a tiger, would you run away in fright. What other wild animals would give you a fright. Pretend you are going to a costume party and you want to give everyone a fright. What kind of costume would you wear? A surprise can give us a fright. For instance, if someone tiptoed behind you and tapped you on the shoulder, that might give you a fright. What other surprises might give you a fright?

  3. Day 2Robust Vocabulary escape– To escape means to get away from someone or something. If you were in a very noisy place, would you want to escape? Why or why not? There are some chores we do not like to do. We would like to escape from having to do them. What chores would you like to escape from? Why? What places or activities would you try to escape from? Why or why not?

  5. Day 1Robust Vocabulary fright fright Say the word If you feel fright, you are scared. The beetle flipped over in fright. Which might make you run in fright – a growling tiger or a cute puppy? Why?

  6. Day 1Robust Vocabulary escape Say the word escape To escape means to get away from someone or something. The caterpillar was in a hurry to escape Effie’s loud voice. Which would you want to escape from – a room filled with toys or a room filled with bees? Why?
