  8. ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN THERE IS A RISK OF FLYING OR FALLING DEBRIS (UNDER A VEHICLE, GRINDING/DRILLING). ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN HANDLING BATTERIES AND AVOID CONTACT WITH THE BATTERY ACID. CARS CAN FALL OFF JACKS!! ALWAYS BE SURE THE JACK IS CORRECTLY CENTRED. NEVER TOUCH A JACK WHEN SOMEONE IS WORKING ON A VEHICLE.

  9. REPORT ANY DAMAGED TOOLS OR EQUIPMENT TO THE TEACHER IMMEDIATELY. GASOLINE MUST BE STORED IN PROPERLY LABELLED & APPROVED CONTAINERS IN A LOCKED VENTED AND IDENTIFIED STORAGE AREA. PRIMING AN ENGINE WITH ‘RAW’ GASOLINE MUST BE AVOIDED BECAUSE IT CAN START A FIRE, CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH.

  10. NEVER ALLOW ANY FORM OF IGNITION IN A GASOLINE HANDLING AREA. NEVER USE GASOLINE AS A CLEANING SOLVENT FOR HANDS, CLOTHING OR EQUIPMENT. WELDING OR CUTTING OPERATIONS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE AREA OF THE VEHICLE FUEL TANK OR LINES. PROPANE POWERED VEHICLES ARE NOT TO BE KEPT IN THE SHOP OVERNIGHT.

  11. EXTENSION LAMPS AND POWER TOOLS MUST BE KEPT AWAY FROM LEAKING GASOLINE TANKS OR LINES. THE PARTS CLEANING TANK IS TO BE KEPT CLOSED WHEN NOT IN USE. PENETRATING FLUID AND BRAKE FLUID REACT WITH PAINTS AND PLASTICS, IMMEDIATELY WIPE OFF AND RINSE WITH PLENTY OF WATER. BEFORE WORKING UNDER A VEHICLE, IT MUST BE SUPPORTED WITH SAFETY STANDS.
