  2. The magnet was cooled down to LHe temperature two weeks ago. • Iron shield with 60 cm hole has been mounted. • Low current testing (up to 50 A) revealed resistive behavior in the E2 coil 500 A HTS lead – worse than previous failed HTS lead. • All other HTS and LTS leads appeared normal; PS’s were working well. • With shield cold, system was not quite condensing He fast enough to pull cold mass pressure downward. • Current thinking is that the issue is related to cryocooler performance. • No indications of excessive heat leak to cold mass at this point. • System is now being warmed up in order to replace bad HTS lead and to swap out at least three cryocoolers. • We expect to be ready for cool down again one week from today and possibly ready to commence training on August 19th. Status of SS1

  3. Status of SS2 • All training and magnetic mapping are complete. • Magnet is warm and being prepared to ship (delayed due to SS1 work). • Two-stage cryocoolers have been removed. • Iron shield has been removed, brackets are being removed. • Rigging company representative has visited Wang to discuss loading of magnet onto truck for delivery to airport. • LBNL shipping company (Aeronet) representatives have visited Wang to discuss various shipping options – quote forthcoming. • Custom shipping pallet with shock isolators are now on hand. • Crates for additional hardware are all on hand (6 crates total for cooler heads, compressors, hoses, iron shield, brackets, misc hdw.). • Necessary paperwork is being assembled.

  4. Milestone Update Upstream Spectrometer Solenoid (SS2) • Ready for shipping: revised to 21-Aug-13 • Delayed due to prep and repair work on SS1 • SS#2 at RAL: revised to 04-Sep-13 Downstream Spectrometer Solenoid (SS1) • Acceptance tests complete: revised to 06-Sep-13 • Delayed due to bad HTS lead requiring warm up and repair • Field mapping complete: revised to 20-Sep-13 • Ready for shipping: revised to 04-Oct-13 • SS#2 at RAL: revised to 18-Oct-13
