  2. Young Advisor’s Meetings • Mondays@ Civic Suite 5 - 7pm • Regular meeting time for young people to plan and organise their activities and for colleagues, partners, individuals and community groups to consult and discuss issues with the group. • 41 Young Advisor’s Meetings

  3. Working with Schools and Colleges • Primary and secondary school visits to the civic suite including school council meetings, primary school visits with the Mayor and one of events • Termly School Council Meetings at the Civic Suite: hosted by the Young Mayor and Young Advisors with school council representatives • Visits to primary, secondary schools and colleges: campaigning, raising awareness, budget consultations and feedback. Taking part in lessons, assemblies, citizenship days and school councils meetings. Supporting peers at exhibitions, achievement events and activities including

Working with CYP, Youth First, Voluntary and Community Sector • Continue to work with Youth First, their elected board members and Youth Forums • Attending community events representing young people, recognising achievement, encouraging participation, cohesion and volunteering • Meeting with CYP Select Committee and to identify in depth review: contributing to the in depth review on Teacher retention. • Working with the Safeguarding board about the website and engaging with young people • Participating in Lewisham Youth Conference as inspirational speakers.

Health • Some input into the development of the new Young Peoples’ Health Service. • Meeting with Compass (the commissioned group for the YPHS) about publicity and marketing • Regular update with the CCG about local developments. • Meeting with Brook about the Sexual Health Services they provide for young people • Meeting with the CAMHS young people’s Participation group to share experiences and plan together • Helping with the sugar smart campaign

Social Justice and Diversity • White Ribbon Week Events • Drumbeat School Council meetings planning a summer event. • International Women's Day 100 years Event • Equaliteasevent with Councillors and school celebrating 100 years of some women having the vote. • Representing young people at LGBTQ events including Launch of LGBTQ Month and full council. Discussion about the prejudices they can face and how it’s possible to better support young people • Judging the Guardian Public Service Awards

Community Safety, Policing and Youth Justice • Discussion with the YOS Participation Group. • Begin part of the Youth AIG – youth advising police group • Participating in the Safety Conference, with parents and young people. • Workshop around stop and search with Y Stop –understanding your rights and being able to talk to others about rights and responsibilities.

  8. Employment and Enterprise • Create Con - conference on getting into the creative industries for schools • Work experience students from 7 schools plus 10 students on work experience doing a two week Voter Registration campaign and work on Curriculum for life • Supporting and sending out job and training and volunteer opportunities for young people on social media • Housing and Regeneration • Contributing to the consultation with Team Catford including a discussion on affordable housing • Speaking with Lewisham Homes engagement team about the needs and interests of young people

Civic Events and Intergenerational Activities • Attending Holocaust Memorial Day • House of Lords Visit with Chair of Council and dignitaries • Council AGM / Full council Meetings • Laurelle, Young Mayor and her Mum attended the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle at the invitation of the Lord Lieutenant • Silver Sunday with Positive Aging Council

Working with politicians • Barriers to Politics consultation • Meeting with Heidi Alexander MP at the Houses of Parliament about Europe • Meeting with Vicky Foxcroft MP at her constituency office • Debating Votes at 16 event at Houses of Parliament • Interviewing Shakira Martin NUS President UK Youth Parliament, British Youth Council and Regional Work • UK Youth and British Youth Council: Engagement with the national Youth Participation strategies and meeting other young people who are representing their areas • Participating in the Peer Outreach Project – GLA Peer Outreach Team.

European Visits/ Visitors • Erasmus+ (European funded projects) with youth democracy groups in Alingsasin Sweden, Prague 7 in the Czech Republic and the Young Mayor programme in Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal • Local Government Association of Sweden (Solar) Conference – Young Mayor and Young advisor speaking about young people’s participation • Visit to Strasbourg to learn about the European Institutions, European Parliament, Council of Europe, European council, with young people from Czech Republic, Sweden and Portugal. • Work experience programme with young people from our partner countries at Peoples Day and work experience for young people from Sweden and Portugal

How we developed the budget proposals • Discussions at Young Mayor and Young Advisors – initial ideas and draw up a long list for consultation and review postcard • Priorities from YM candidate manifestos • Consultations at schools, school councils, youth clubs and projects to gather more ideas • Feedback discussed at Young Advisors, ideas became proposals and most popular ideas made into final proposals and agreed at Young Advisors Meeting • Today presenting proposals to Mayor and Cabinet

Consultation process • This is the long list as it went out to schools, colleges, youth clubs and the voluntary sector for consultation: • Arts, sports and performance opportunities • Employment and enterprise opportunities • Healthy Living and lifestyles • Work with faith groups, intergenerational and diversity projects • Environment issues, clean streets, traffic and transport • Being safe, working together to help everyone feel and be safe • School; what we learn and why, linking school to working life, support in school. • informal education, youth services Outcomes of the Consultation are in the Budget Paper

There are three budget proposals: • Proposal 1 • Continuing the development of the Curriculum for Life: • Small pot grants for schools and other organisations to apply to initiate/ continue /develop/expand a project addressing any of the areas and issues identified in the Curriculum for Life • £10,000.00 • Schools Conference Event: in Summer term 2019 to share the best practice of projects/session funded by the small pot and/or other activities which fit into the Curriculum for Life – Identify ways forward developing a young person led self-evaluation of the Curriculum for Life £3,000.00

Develop a Lewisham Alumni Programme: Past students from Lewisham schools will meet together and develop ideas about how they can contribute to supporting current students through sharing their experience and stories and through taking part in classes which relate to their jobs /careers/ experiences. To influence and raise aspirations of students thinking about who they want to be and what they want to do and showing how to collaborate and continue to work as part of the community. Pilot in two schools. £3000.00

  16. Proposal 2: First Aid To contribute to the ongoing interest and concern that young people have to access First Aid training to enable them to be better prepared to help others. Working with Street Doctors providing First Aid sessions taking place in schools and youth services.£7,000.00 Proposal 3: Enterprise and showcase An event combining entrepreneurial and other opportunities for young people alongside a talent showcase and access to education and employment support in the creative sector £2,000.00 Total £25,000.00
