  1. The Secret to Surviving Summer’s HottestNights Summer is almost upon us and things are starting to heat up nicely. In just a few weeks time, we’ll be in the depths of summer’s hottest nights, which only means one thing for millions of people around the country. And that’s sleepless nights due to our good old friend, Mr Sun. If you struggle to get some shuteye from December through to February, it’s time to get in on the secrets to surviving summer’s hottest nights this coming season. Luckily, for you, we’re about to share them with you so pay attention as your sleep depends on it! 1.Wear cotton pyjamas While it may be tempting to take your undies and pyjamas off and throw your Australian wool doona in the trash, don’t do either. Get yourself some cotton pyjamas and leave your Australian wool doona on your bed as doing so will enable your skin to breathe whilst making sure that any excess moisture is soaked up rather than left on your body and on your sheets. 2.Splash (don’t soak) your bed sheets Give all of your summer wool quilts and sheets a light splash of cold water to cool you down and keep you from overheating. 3.Unplug everything in your room You’d be surprised by how much heat is radiated into a room by electrical sockets when they’re in use. Unplugging all of the electrical items in your room might just be the secret to preventing it from becoming a sweaty retreat when all you want to do is sleep. 4.Be mindful of what you drink Whilst having a glass of wine with dinner might help you to nod off, overdoing it and drinking too much before bed is never going to have a good ending.

  2. On those nights where you’ve had more than one or two, always be sure to place a cool glass of water by your bed to stop you overheating and becoming dehydrated. 5.Get low Desperate situations call for desperate measures so this is for those of you that literally spend every night turning and tossing in a sweaty heap once summer hits. If this is you, it’s time to reassess your sleeping area and get as low as you can. Hot air rises, as we call know, so it’s sometimes better to grab your summer wool quilts and sleep on the floor or, if you live in a two-storey, go downstairs and sleep on the couch. 6.Make a cold breeze Do you sleep with a fan in your room? If so, it’s time to take matters into your own hands and bring the breeze your getting down a few notches on the temperature scale. You can do that by putting a tray or bowl of ice in front of your fan when it’s switched on. It’s a genius hack, so do it and thank us later. 7.Block out the sun Making sure that your curtains and blinds are kept closed during the day will prevent it from becoming a sauna come night-time. And there you have it — our 7 secrets to a better night’s sleep this coming season. Take them all on board and you’ll have sweet dreams with the energy to enjoy some great summer antics.
