What year are you preparing your students for? In a provocative and practical session, Dr. Heidi Hayes Jacobs will engage participants in transforming their schools and classrooms into contemporary learning environments based on her best-selling book: Curriculum 21: Essential Education for a Changing World (ASCD). Featured throughout the nation and internationally, her model for upgrading curriculum and assessment is predicated on strategic replacement of dated practices with contemporary alternatives K-12. Participants will walk through an exciting step-by-step approach to make strategic revisions in the classroom. In addition, there will be an opportunity to develop strategies for helping learners create quality 21st century media projects using web 2.0 resources to revise dated content, skills, and assessments. There will be consideration of assessment types employing digital portfolios, video podcasting, and open source software in a practical manner in every subject area K-12. Current interdisciplinary focus areas such as sustainability, media literacy, and globalization will be included, as well as how to modernize each discipline area.
