The Basics • Graduate Student Governance Association • promote academic (research and educational) goals • establish effective communication among graduate students • administrative and financial advisor to GSAs • Graduate Student Associations • About 40 GSAs • Most programs (excluding professional schools) • GSGA Executive Board • President Ayça Mazman • Vice President Bertin Ondja’a • Treasurer Sagil James • Campus Ambassador Jeremy Parker

  3. GSA Registration • All groups must register: • (1) with GSGA http://www.uc.edu/gsga/GroupRegistration.html • (2) with SALD http://www.uc.edu/sald/student_organization/StudentGroupRegistrationProcess.html

  4. Group Grants http://www.uc.edu/gsga/GroupGrant.html • Fund academic events: • Free and open to all graduate students • For groups (GSA approved) • Submit a budget and application form • Events funded: • Invite a speaker (if you have dept. funds, have your dept. fill out NIU form) • Event/celebration • Conference/colloquium (we can cover flights, hotels, and honorariums)

Group Grants Continued • Future Deadlines • Friday, September 13, 2013 • Friday, November 1, 2013 • Friday, December 20, 2013 • Friday, February 7, 2014 • Friday, March 28, 2014 • Friday, May 16, 2014 • Friday, July 11, 2014 • Applications due at 5:00 p.m. on the date of deadline • Applications must be typed • Must have all required signatures and documents at the time of submission

  6. Research FellowshipDeadline for submission of the Research Fellowship Application is Friday, November 22nd at 5pm EST. All materials must be present in the application to be considered for the Fellowship. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed by the committee. The RF Review Committee will select proposals and notify recipients by December 16th.
