  2. What is it? • Utah Senate Bill 178 (SB 178) is a bill designed to tweak the Online High School system in Utah. • It modifies the fees paid to an online course provider.

  3. Pros • Proponents of the bill say that it will encourage online educators to provide the highest quality education for the lowest possible cost to taxpayers.

  4. Cons • As a direct quote from the bill itself “a student enrolled in an online course may earn no more credits in a year than the number of credits a student may earn in a year by taking a full course load during the regular school day in a high school classroom” • Put simply, this holds high school students back and degrades the usefulness of Online High School classes.
