  2. First Meeting of the HPF Task Force The Task Force met for its inaugural meeting on June 18, attended by development partners and government, to discuss the following: • Objectives of the Task Force • Coordination Structure • HPF purpose and planning

  3. Objectives of the Joint Task Force The taskforce endorsed the following objectives: • Strengthen dialogue between the Government and Partners, on issues including aid effectiveness, austerity measures, and the role of development partners during austerity. • Lead the preparations for a High-Level Partnership Forum in late 2012, focused on aid effectiveness • Drive the New Deal implementation activities, including the fragility assessment and development of a Compact • Review the National Aid Financing Plan

HPF Purpose and Planning The task force agreed that: • The HPF provides a timely opportunity for Government and development partners to come together in agreement on how we can best support the development of South Sudan in the current climate. • The HPF will provide a forum for elaborating the implementation strategy for the SSDP and focusing attention on aid effectiveness issues using the New Deal for Engagement in Fragile States. • Monthly task force meetings provide a forum for driving the aid effectiveness agenda in the period leading up to the HPF. Issues for further discussion: • Articulating the HPF outcomes: discuss and agree on what a successful HPF would look like. • Location: what is the most appropriate location for the HPF? • South Africa, South Sudan? • Timing: when should the event be held?
