  1. PRO Hydronic Specialties, L.L.C. Pressure Independent Flow Limiting Device Manual Balancing Valves Coil Connection Kits

  2. Coil Connection Kits • Why Use Coil Connection Kits • Custom Configurations • Take-Off Work Sheet • Submittal Worksheet • Automatic Flow Limiter Features (Pressure Independent Flow Limiting Device) • Manual Balancing Valve Features • PICV – Why?

  3. Why use Coil Connection Kits? • Labor Savings Generally the industry has found that significant reductions on labor costs can be obtained by using coil kits vs. the traditional way of “stringing” together several individual components. Making less connections in the field greatly increases labor capacity and decreases the margin of error in installation. • Energy Savings A properly balanced system will result in less energy consumption by the pump, and other resource consuming devices in the system. It is estimated that a properly balanced system can achieve up to 20 – 40% increase in efficiency over non-balanced systems. The return on investment in energy savings will more than pay for the balancing valve kits over the life of the system. • Factory Assembled Components and Connections All components of the coil kit assembly are factory connected utilizing proper torque specifications on threaded connections, screwed in accessories, and 3rd party supplied products. All components are hydrostatically tested with 100 psi of air while submerged in water. Valve seats, stems, balls, and bodies are all checked for proper function, serviceability and porosity. • Ease of Installation Components of a kit are tagged and bagged together and boxed by floor or section, depending on the contractors request. Once the order ships to the job site the efficiency of getting the proper kits mated to the correct coils, at the correct location are greatly simplified. All boxes are externally labeled with which kits are inside.

  4. PRO Hydronics • Tier 1 products based on Product Design • Product Exclusivity for HVAC Application • 20+ years Experience in the Flow Balancing Industry • Lack Brand Identity and Longevity of Legacy Brands • 1st and only Automatic Pressure Independent Flow Limiting Device with Flow Measuring Capability

  5. Typical 2-Way Coil Detail

  6. Coil Connection KitsDetails designed to assist in configuring kits and selecting components

  7. Fast and Accurate Submittal Worksheet Format • Assists in Correctly Configuring Kits Resulting in Quicker Installation • Helps to Reconcile Control Valve Schedules and Details

  8. Steel Components can be assembled in several configurations for hook-up applications, especially in larger Air Handling Units. Steel Venturi with Butterfly Valve for throttling (Model - CBVF) Steel Accessory Flange for connecting devices to the system – thermometers, gauges, thermo wells, etc. (Model - AFF) Steel Strainer with Butterfly Valve for isolation (Model - CBYS)

  9. Custom Configurations are Available • There are several instances where space constraints, equipment configuration, construction codes, or other factors make typical kit installations difficult • Field modifications and custom fabrication is sometimes required to complete the install • PRO Hydronic is equipped for such instances with our in house personnel and resources • With the ability to create 3-D AutoCAD drawings for rendering or production, to our welding and fabricating departments – PROHS can offer solutions for most any situation

  10. Custom Valve Kits developed for AAON Water Source Heat Pump job for High School in Mississippi. Limited space was provided for the flow control components, but all had to be installed inside the unit’s controls compartment.

  11. Being able to keep our products modular allows us the flexibility to co-locate components when space is an issue: isolation valves detached from automatic flow limiter and strainer.

  12. AutoCAD production drawings help to keep all parties current regarding changes to configurations and modifications.

  13. Automatic Flow Limiting Device(Pressure Independent Flow Controller)Features • Stainless Steel flow cartridge • Large operational differential range across the flow cartridge • Removable cartridges for cleaning or change out if required • Flow Measurement capability for problematic systems, high performance coils, or projects where verifiable energy savings is desirable • Modular style excellent for retrofit applications allowing some components to be reused.

  14. Automatic Flow Limiter Connected to Typical Temperature Control Valve • What are the different types of Automatic Flow Limiters • Which set of features works best in our application

  15. Different types of Automatic Flow Limiters • Variable Orifice Design – most common • Variable Restriction Design • Fixed Orifice, Constant Differential Design • Fixed Orifice, Constant Differential with Flow Measurement Capability Design

  16. AFLD Design Advantages • The only automatic device on the market that can MEASUREflow, not just verify as is the case for the rest of the industry. • Inlet orifice is designed to be clog resistant as compared to variable orifice designs and variable restriction designs. • Stainless Steel flow cartridge for durable service life. • Supplied as a modular component. • Large pressure differential range across the cartridge (2 – 60+ psid). • Based on floating fixed orifice/ constant differential flow dynamics to offer superior control and repeatability.

  17. Pressure Independent Automatic Flow Limiting Cartridge Pressure Regulating Orifice Maintaining Constant Differential between P1 and P2 Constant Orifice independent of differential pressure P1 – Upstream Section consisting of variable system pressures P2 – Intra-Cartridge Section consisting of constant differential pressures referenced against the upstream pressure. P3 – Downstream Section consisting of pressures independent from P1 and P2 section

  18. Many flow limiting devices are designed to act as a variable orifice through the operational pressure differential range, and are susceptible to clogging issues due to the restricted flow area. • CAN NOT MEASURE FLOW RATE due to physics of design. • PRO Hydronics has the ONLY automatic flow limiter that can accomplish flow measurement and differential pressure verification in ONE device – ALL other competitors MUST use two separate devices! • Flow Measurement feature is Patented.

  19. Manual Balancing ValvesBrass ½” – 2”Features • Highly accurate flow measurement capability • Efficient, low-loss venturi design • 15° regain chamber for optimal pressure regain • Up stream diameter clearances integrated into design when using a NMPT tail piece • True venturi design, not a pressed in orifice plate type design • Two piece modular design for use in space constrained applications • 600 WOG Ball Valve with memory stop for easy setting • Comes standard with Pressure/ Temperature ports

  20. Manual Balancing ValvesSteel 2½” – 12”Features • Highly accurate flow measurement capability • Efficient, low-loss venturi design • Full regain chamber for optimal pressure regain • True venturi design, not a pressed in orifice plate or pitot tube design • Butterfly Valve with infinite memory stop for easy setting and rated for dead end service • Comes standard with Pressure/ Temperature ports • Connections available in flange, weld, and groove
