Why have Qualifications? • In 2005, S3 committee reviewed SLAC arc flash injury report for possible lessons learned • Judgment of Need #4 from that report said: EMPLOYEES AND WORKERS SHOULD HAVE SIMILAR TRAINING • S3 interpreted this to mean • TM/CC’s should understand (from ESH & technical perspective) the work to be performed same as contractor employees • Fermilab uses qualifications process for TM/CC’s through D/S to ensure this. • Before 2006,interpretation of what qualifies a TM/CC varied from group to group within the lab, which gives inconsistent level of knowledge between TM/CC’s in different D/S • Goal is to provide consistent and minimum level of qualifications for TM/CC’s TM/CC Training Update on Qualifications Requirements 2

How should Qualifications be met? • Minimal requirements to assure TM/CC are prepared to do their assigned job • All current TM/CC have been grandfathered for the OSHA 30 hour class • Discuss requirements with your supervisor • Suggest making qualifications requirements part of your performance goals • Document outside training by signing attendance sheets (found @ http://www-esh.fnal.gov:8001/OS_Train_Attd_Form.pdf ) for class called TM/CC Continuing Education (FN000390/CR), have supervisor sign, entered into TRAIN • ITNA will define whether you need NFPA 70E or LOTO II • Make sure your ITNA is updated!
