  1. Student Voice Survey 2014-2015

  2. What is asked on the survey?

  3. Who participates? • All certified staff under TPGES • Including part time, retiree, tenure or non-tenure • Must have a minimum of 10 students • Students taking the survey must have been instructed by this teacher within the last 15 calendar days and at least 15 instructional days. • A student who has been instructed by this teacher less than 15 days should not take the survey. • A student who has not been instructed by the teacher in the last 15 days should not take the survey. • K- 2 grade and alternative assessment plan students are exempt, KTIP and Preschool teachers are not under TPGES this year

  4. When do we do the survey? • Two Windows • Fall Window= November 3 – 21, results available by Dec. 16th • Spring Window= March 4-25, results available by April 16th • Note that the spring window is after non-tenured evaluations are due • You can conduct the survey in both windows • Must be consistent across the school • Cannot do part of the staff in the fall and the other part in the spring. • Cannot do some of the staff once and others twice • Must be completed at school between the hours of 7AM and 5PM

  5. What needs to be done before we do the survey? • Identify a point of contact (POC) that will facilitate the survey • Create a schedule for students to complete the survey during the selected window • Test the students IC Portal accounts/log in • There will be a report in IC that can be printed with the students’ log in and password • Double check teacher rosters • POC will run the “Educators with Count” report to double check • Send home parent opt out letter and monitor any that are returned so they do not take survey

  6. Parent Opt Out Letter

  7. Administering the Survey • Compatible devices • Computers, IPads/tablets, Smartphones • Must use the student portal IC website, link on the FCPS website homepage • Cannot use the IC “app” • Actual survey is 25 questions • Schedule 30 minutes for the survey to be completed by student to allow time to log in

  8. Issues that need to be considered • Students will see a survey in their “IC inbox” for every teacher for which they are listed on a roster • including non-instructional activities such as extra curricular teams, teacher aide, etc. • Important that students are informed on which survey(s) to actually complete • For example: 2nd period teachers for both A and B days so they only complete two surveys • Scheduling lab time, portable labs, etc. • Plan ahead • Schedule early in the “window” to allow make up days if internet issues arise

  9. Questions? • “How to” - Infinite Campus Questions: • Jill Tuttle – jill.tuttle@fayette.kyschools.us • Other Student Survey Questions: • Jennifer Dyar – jennifer.dyar@fayette.kyschools.us • Additional Guidance • LYNC session for the POC , date/time TBA • KDE Student Voice Survey Resource page http://education.ky.gov/teachers/PGES/TPGES/Pages/TPGES-Student-Voice-Survey-Page.aspx
