  3. INTRODUCTION • Wider Objectives: • to enhance employability of students in Croatia • to foster links to economy/labour market in Croatia • to prepare students for the EU job market needs University of Dubrovnik, December 2, 2009

Specific Project Objective/s: • establish Career Advice Services, • 3 employees trained from all Cro universities, • train staff for: • individual counselling, • organising workshops to develop employability, • - development of specific programmes for student support. AFTER 1/2 • November 20, 2008, • Location: Villa Elisa, • Activities: Target group students • Pilot group 15 students, • March-December 2009 workshops and individual counselling, • Job fair, • Proffesional practise at Hotels Maestrali, • Addional programmes: Presentation skills, Learning styles, • Data base of students, • Website • Participation in IPA projectproposal as partner

  8. AFTER 2/2 • Activities: Target group employers • Opening invitation to biggest employers, • Employers presentation, • Data base of employers in Dubrovnik-Neretva county, • Organisation of informal meeting for Alumni club,

  9. TILL the END OF PROJECT • Promotion material for students and employers, • Continuation of prof. practise with Hotels Maestral, • Workshop for PhD students Project management, • IPA project HZZ local partnership

  10. What are the future plans of CAS at the UniDu?

  11. Individual meetings with employers, • Organisation of professional practise for other departments, • Develop other workshops Alumni/citizens, • Develop introduction programmes for international students, • Develop a educational module for students

  12. Future of CAS in Croatia?

Some “facts” in Croatia “Hrvatska zemlja znanja” • 2009./2010. 40.000 students, • 75% social studies, • Long period of studying, • There is no connection between labour market needs and studyprogrammes, • Studyprogrammes= needs of the university and staff employed, • Studying for the sake of studying and not learning skills and knowledge for life/job • Result= an unhappy graduated younge person

  14. Labour market • Large unemployment rate +/-30 %, • No vacanices announced,”friends politics” • As touristic land more need for ??? • Or as a new EU country need high qualifed administration staff???

  15. YES there is a future for CAS in Croatia But not evident en not yet recognised
