  1. Using PANA in the Mobile IPv6 Integrated casedraft-bournelle-pana-mip6-01.txt Julien Bournelle Maryline Laurent-Maknavicius Jean-Michel Combes IETF66 - PANA WG

  2. Overview • MIPv6 working group worked on a bootstrapping solution for Mobile IPv6. • The problem statement can be found at: • draft-ietf-mip6-bootstrap-ps-04.txt • Two solutions have been developed: • Integrated Scenario and • Split Scenario IETF66 - PANA WG

  3. Integrated Scenario Entities ASP(/MSP) ASA/MSA(/MSP) AAAV AAAH AAA AAA NAS/DHCP -Relay DHCP Server MN HA in ASP HA in MSP IETF66 - PANA WG draft-ietf-mip6-bootstrapping-integrated-dhc-02.txt

  4. PANA for the Integrated Case • Idea: If PANA is used in the network access, use it to deliver the HA information instead of DHCP. • How ? • Add a Mobility-Capability AVP in the PSR message (sent by the PAA) • The PaC indicates its desire in the PSA • If ok, HA information is sent in an AVP in the PBR message IETF66 - PANA WG

  5. Notes • This is not a competitive approach (it’s not PANA vs DHCP). • It’s a complimentary solution in the case of a PANA-based access network which can avoid a DHCP round-trip. IETF66 - PANA WG
