  2. Mission The mission of the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is to establish teams of local volunteer medical and public health professionals who can contribute their skills and expertise throughout the year and during times of community need.

  3. Organization • Organized on a County-by-County basis • Homeland Security – Citizens Corps - Medical Reserve Corps • Most Texas counties organized under similar structure • Implemented under common ICS/NIMS Structure • Staff is all volunteer • Medical • Non-Medical

  4. Role of ARES within MRC • Provide communications support within and between the POD and County EOC. • Support special telecommunication / audiovisual needs and obtain material and staff support as situation dictates. • Maintain communications and messaging logs. • Operation and as appropriate train staff on operation of supplied communications equipment. • As redirected, utilize all advised of appropriate personal protective equipment. • Review clinic flow and stations with staff members. • Responsible for troubleshooting and repair of all telecommunications / audiovisual equipment used in clinic operations. • Provide messaging support for clinic staff. • Establish and maintain redundant communications with EOC, local law enforcement, RCC and other locations as directed. • Assist in maintenance of local emergency phone number and radio frequency lists.
