Staff Perceptions • “Sweetwater High School performs higher academically than high schools on the Westside of San Diego.” • “In some cases, Sweetwater High performs at par with schools on the Eastside.” • “In the past 3 years, Sweetwater has had a major increase in AP class sections.” • “More interventions to support students are in place.”

  7. Sweetwater Union High School District Enrollment by Ethnicity in 2012-2013 In 2012-2013 academic school year the Sweetwater Union High School District served 29,141 students.

  8. CVHS Enrollment by Ethnicity in 2012-2013 • SUHI Both SUHI and CVHS have a higher Hispanic or Latino student population. Total student enrollment for the year 2012-2013 at SUHI was 2,833 and at CVHS was 2,935.

  14. A-G Graduation Rates: 2011-2012 Academic Year SUHI females are at par with state and district, however males at SUHI are 16% lower in A-G completion rates.

  15. A-G Graduation Rate: 2011-2012 School Year Lower A-G Graduation rate at SUHI. Out of all Hispanic or Latino graduates at SUHI for the 2011-12 school year, only 27% graduated with A-G completion compared to 41% at CVHS.

  20. AP Passing Rates Over Time: SUHI vs. CVHS (score of 3 or Higher) HigherAP passing rates in 2010-11 and 2011-12 year at SUHI. SUHI AP passing rate has increased 33% over three academic school years.

College Going Rates 2008-2009 at SUHI White African American Asian Hispanic or Latino Although high school graduation rates are aligned with student demographic breakdown, there is a discrepancy with postsecondary enrollment. For example, Hispanic or Latino have the lowest enrollment in postsecondary institutions although they have the largest graduation rates.

  27. CAHSEE Math Pass Rates Over Time SUHI performing at higher and similar rates compared to district and state. *CAHSEE Math pass rates are based on 10th grade results for that specific academic school year.

  29. Students classified as English learners have lower rates of passing the ELA CAHSEE during 10th grade 2012-2013 ELA CAHSEE Passage Rates *CAHSEE ELA pass rates are based on 10th grade results for that specific academic school year.

  31. 2011-2012 Advance Math Course Enrollment Females are enrolling at higher rates in Advance Math courses in comparison to males. 12% gender gap!

Overall SUHI has lower performance rates in A-G completion, SAT scores, and AP exams.
