  3. DOT Regulations • Contractors to meet DOT Regs • May require split shifts or assigning a second driver. • Will require close coordination with GSUL. • Encourage search for exemption to Regs for wildland fire incidents. • Incorporate DOT info into training for FACL and BCMG.

  4. Demob criteria for Showers • Add language to draft of criteria for releasing shower contractors: • “…partial list which may be considered, but is not all-inclusive” • Location • Price or cost (cost/benefits) • Performance • Efficiency • All things being equal, 1st in / Last out

  5. Potable Water Truck Stds. • Recommendations • Urge local units to meet requirements contained in the national contract standards found in the Food and Shower Contract (Blue Book) when signing local potable water trucks up under an EERA.

  6. Equipment Inspections • Inspections aren’t being done prior to an agreement being signed or before being dispatched to an incident. • Therefore, we strongly recommend that inspections be performed on all equipment PRIOR to an agreement or contract being signed. • This would apply to CWN shower contracts at the national level, and • All EERA’s at local levels.

  7. Handwashing stations • Problem: • Current stations are ineffective in killing bacteria due to lack of hot water. • Foot pump handwash stations don’t meet any health standards, non-potable water, cold water. • Incident personnel have been observed using water inappropriately from existing stations • Recommendation: • Don’t use the cold water foot pump stations. • In interim, use waterless hand cleaners.

  8. Handwashing Stations (cont.) • Challenge vendors to develop small, hot water (101 degrees) hand wash stations (1 – 4 sinks). • Recommend caches include waterless hand sanitizer as a cache item.

  9. Logistics Website • Sharing information via the web page on the following subjects: • Powerpoint programs • List of current available trainees • Collect tips and tricks of the trade • Post examples of spreadsheets used to track equipment • Guidebook for trainees and newcomers • Establish a link to Finance for Logistics to tap into evaluations • Allow links to the Logistics website to be posted to other relevant sites

  10. Outreach for new blood • Problem: • Shortage of people to fill existing and future Logistics positions. • Solutions: • Encourage younger employees to choose to work in Logistics functions.

  11. Outreach (cont.) • Encourage involvement from non-traditional sources (i.e. other agencies such as APHIS, Coast Guard, etc) • Encourage career path switch (i.e. switch from Ops to Logistics because there are more opportunities and fewer people coming in.

  12. Tips and Tricks • Include as a page on the Logistics website • A forum for sharing what works and tips to make your life easier. • Examples: • Excel spreadsheet to track equipment • Template for land use agreements • Ordering RESC to help all units track equipment and contractor’s time.

  13. Misc. • Logistics representation on ISUITE / ICARS committee to make sure standardized formats meet logistics needs. • Use the “Access Guide for Incident Facilities” for information on applying ADA to incident bases. • Bottom line is to make reasonable accomodations for disabled assigned to incidents.
